Slow drains and blockages are among the most common plumbing calls we get. The right solution depends on what’s causing the problem — and where it is in your system.

Standard Drain Cleaning (Snaking)

A drain snake (or auger) is a flexible metal cable with a cutting head that physically breaks through blockages. It’s the right tool for:

  • Isolated clogs caused by hair, soap, or debris
  • Kitchen sink blockages from grease and food buildup
  • Toilet blockages
  • Quick-fix situations where cost is a primary concern

Limitations: Snaking punches a hole through the clog but doesn’t fully clear the pipe walls. Grease, mineral scale, and roots can quickly re-coat the pipe.

Hydro Jetting

Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water (2,000–4,000 PSI) to thoroughly clean pipe walls from the inside out. It removes:

  • Grease and fat buildup
  • Mineral scale and hard water deposits
  • Tree roots (smaller infiltrations)
  • Years of accumulated debris

How We Decide

Before recommending hydro jetting, we run a camera inspection to see exactly what’s in the pipe and confirm the pipe is in good enough condition to withstand high-pressure cleaning. (Hydro jetting a pipe with significant cracks or damage can make things worse.)

When Snaking Isn’t Enough

If your drain clogs repeatedly within a few months of snaking, hydro jetting is almost certainly the smarter investment. The additional cost upfront typically means 2–3 years before the next service call.
